Solitary Viewpoint by Laura Hansford (Collated Observations 03)
Collated Observations is a series of regular photozines showcasing aspects of twenty-first century Britain through the lens of a different photographer each issue.
For this third edition we are honoured to present the first published body of work by Plymouth based photographer Laura Hansford. Solitary Viewpoint documents the once bustling streets of Plymouth during the Covid-19 lockdown.
"Travelling by bicycle and armed with my camera, I set out each morning for my permitted hour of exercise, capturing the urban areas. The results were of eerie, empty spaces that had a feeling of abandonment. I found myself in the middle of a dystopian film, missing the crowds of people that had previously frustrated my photography.
Solitary viewpoint is my visual record of these daily cycles. Evidence to show that, when the crowds return, it wasn’t all just a dream. "
